Why travelers love it
“All‑inclusive beachfront resort in Runaway Bay with sprawling grounds and family‑friendly attractions”
Guests praise the long, kid‑friendly beachfront, expansive lagoon‑style pool with swim‑up bar and water park, and multiple a la carte dining options.
Food & drink
StrongBuffet is plentiful with wide variety and local Jamaican dishes shining brightest, though quality can dip into reheated, mediocre territory when the à la cartes are hit or miss. Talli and Nyam earn the strongest praise; the Italian venue underwhelms.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Wide buffet selection with local dishes
- Talli and Nyam restaurants stand out
- Plentiful drinks and refreshing cocktails
- Jasmine restaurant service noted
Heads up
- Buffet food sometimes stale or dried out
- Italian restaurant underwhelms
- Main buffet occasionally closed at lunch
Dining overview
One main buffet plus five a la cartes (Japanese, steak/seafood, gourmet, Italian, Jamaican); poolside jerk shack and 24‑hour late‑night eats; limited to three a la carte meals per week for standard guests.

Beach
StrongThe Grand-side beach is the property's best, with soft sand and calm water, but stretches near the family side turn rocky and small. A stingray incident in the lagoon and lack of warning signage is worth noting for snorkelers.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Grand-side beach is the standout
- Calm water good for swimming
- Small nude section for adults
- Snorkeling guides go above and beyond
Heads up
- Rocky shoreline in some sections
- No warnings about marine life in lagoon
- Beach bar area reported dirty
Pebble‑accented beach with loungers and umbrellas; includes a fenced adult‑only nude section; snorkeling beach and main swimming zone; reserved area for Prime Club guests.
Pools
StrongMultiple pools with strong entertainment teams and attentive bar service, including a jacuzzi that's become a Bob-Marley-cocktail ritual. Cleanliness of the main pool wobbles when it's packed.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Great pool entertainment team
- Attentive swim-up and pool bar service
- Jacuzzi with signature cocktails
- Adults-only Luxury pool area praised
Heads up
- Main pool gets murky when crowded
- Local children use blocked-off pool section in summer
Large serpentine lagoon pool with swim‑up bar, hot tubs, gradual‑entry spots, two kiddy pools, surrounded by loungers; plus a free water park opened in 2016.
Rooms & suites
850 roomsAll junior‑suite style rooms include sitting area, jetted tub, minibar, furnished balcony (some ocean view), flat‑screen TV; décor feels dated and maintenance issues are frequently noted.

What’s included
MixedFor a mid-tier all-inclusive on Jamaica's north coast, the price-to-experience ratio lands well when you stick to the Luxury side or Grand-side beach. On the family side, dated rooms and inconsistent service pull it closer to two-star territory for what you pay.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Strong value on Luxury adults side
- Wedding packages well-priced and executed
- Plentiful food and drinks included
- Repeat-guest loyalty is real
Heads up
- Family-side rooms feel dated for the price
- Some guests charged twice at checkout
- Room upgrades needed to feel premium
Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.
Amenities & activities
Couples
Good fitCouples find warmth here, especially for destination weddings and low-key honeymoons, but special-occasion requests (champagne, room decor, anniversary touches) are inconsistently delivered. Set expectations low on romantic extras and you'll enjoy the atmosphere.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Adults-only Luxury section available
- Destination wedding coordination praised
- Couples massage and spa well-reviewed
- Quiet, welcoming atmosphere for two
Heads up
- Honeymoon/anniversary requests frequently missed
- Room decorations not delivered as booked
- Late-arriving champagne on special dates
Families
StretchThe Kids Club is a genuine highlight with warm staff who win kids over, but the family side shows its age with dated rooms, limited kids entertainment, and a rocky beach shoreline. Great for families who prioritize the club over polished infrastructure.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Kids Club staff (Brit, Shanique, DD, JoJo) beloved
- Teens club with engaging staff
- Large groups and reunions accommodated
- Family and adults-only sides on one property
Heads up
- Rocky beach shoreline unsafe for little feet
- No games room; limited kids entertainment
- Rooms dated in family section
- No ice cream at pool or beach
Peace & Quiet
StrongThe Luxury adults-only side delivers genuine calm and a peaceful beach, while the Grand side can feel busy in summer with local children using a designated pool area. Evening entertainment is thin, which quiet-seekers actually appreciate.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Adults-only Luxury side is genuinely peaceful
- Sprawling grounds absorb crowds
- Low noise levels in rooms
- Small quiet nude beach section
Heads up
- Family side busy in summer
- Pool music leans top-40 rather than local
- Limited evening entertainment
Includes full‑service spa, gym with fitness classes, kids club, water park, disco, karaoke, daily entertainment, non‑motorized water sports, shopping area, conference space, wedding packages.
Water sports included

“My husband and I went and had a wonderful time at the hotel. The only downside was that the family area was closed for renovations, so we didn't get to explore that section. I want to give a special mention to an employee at the Privilege Club Dante Green who was incredibly kind throughout our stay. Despite not speaking Spanish, he always tried to make our guests feel welcome and was also very friendly.”

“My wife was turned away from the Jasmine Resturant for breakfast. She had a complete covering over her bathing suit. Many came in with skimpy outfit bathing suit covering which left nothing to your imagination and was let in. I reported the incident but no explantion was given. She was very embarrassed and left”

“We stayed at Bahia Principe in Jamaica for 5 nights as a couple, and it was truly an amazing experience! The resort was beautiful, with friendly and supportive staff, clean surroundings, and stunning beach views. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and refreshing drinks throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and clean, although the bathroom could have been better maintained. One of the highlights of our stay was the variety of shows at the Jamrock Theatre. The circus show was...”

“Lady T, Tenx, Tracey, crazylegs and the rest of the entertainment and serving staff were all fantastic and we had a great time.”
