Why travelers love it
“Simple all‑inclusive resort on West Bay Beach with spa, two restaurants, and family amenities”
Guests consistently praise the beachfront location on West Bay, friendly service, and inclusive activities for all ages
Food & drink
StrongBuffet dining is varied and satisfying for the price point, with fresh fruits, salads, soups, and a hot-and-cold spread that keeps most guests happy. Beer and wine flow at lunch and dinner, though pickier eaters compare the menu unfavorably to nearby Mayan Princess or Royal Palm.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Wide buffet with hot and cold dishes
- Fresh fruit, salads, and desserts
- Beer and wine included at meals
- Attentive buffet service
Heads up
- Menu can feel basic vs neighboring resorts
- Lunch and dinner quality inconsistent
Dining overview
Two restaurants (including Mediterranean‑inspired Barba Nera and Grill Playa), buffet cafeteria, beach bar and bar/lounge; food quality varies from plentiful to repetitive
Beach
StandoutWest Bay is the headline act: soft sand, clear warm water, and a reef close enough to snorkel straight from shore. Sargassum can appear seasonally, but the beach remains the number-one reason to book.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Prime stretch of West Bay Beach
- Designated swim area
- Reef snorkeling steps from shore
- Warm, clear water year-round
Heads up
- Occasional sargassum episodes
- Persistent vendor approaches on the sand
Located on the best stretch of West Bay Beach with clear warm water, sandy bottom, plentiful loungers and natural shade from palm trees
Pools
MixedTwo well-placed pools with a swim-up bar work for cooling off, but both are only about three feet deep and cleanliness slips during busier weeks. The ocean, not the pool, is the real swim here.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Two pools plus swim-up bar
- Relaxing pool-area atmosphere
- Pool near L block is convenient to beach
Heads up
- Only 3 feet deep, no real swimming
- Cleanliness complaints in peak periods
- Slow drink service for non-Spanish speakers
Outdoor pool plus a children’s pool; no swim‑up bar; family‑friendly setting
Rooms & suites
Rooms are basic, air‑conditioned with balconies or verandas, refrigerators, safes, cable TV and hair dryers; condition is dated and inconsistent across units
Room details here are AI-assisted, compiled from the resort's own website and public sources. Categories and names change often — confirm the exact room when you book.
What’s included
StrongFor the price, you get one of the best beach locations in Roatan, decent buffet food, and friendly service, which repeat visitors call an excellent quality-to-price ratio. Just don't expect luxury finishes or premium inclusions.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Strong price-to-quality ratio
- Prime West Bay location included
- Repeat guests return yearly
- Anniversary and family gestures from staff
Heads up
- Day pass considered pricey for what's offered
- Snorkel gear, kayaks, and massages cost extra
Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.
Amenities & activities
Couples
StretchA low-key, cottage-style romance with sunset views over West Bay, popular for anniversaries where staff will decorate the room. Not a polished honeymoon property, but affectionate return guests treat it like a second home.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Beautiful West Bay sunsets
- Staff decorate rooms for anniversaries
- Relaxed, unpretentious vibe
- Warm repeat-guest culture
Heads up
- Dated rooms lack romantic polish
- No adults-only spaces
Families
Good fitA genuine family favorite on West Bay Beach with a designated swim area, shallow pools, and easy access to snorkel, dolphin, and island tours through the onsite Roatan Activities desk. Room condition in the older wings is the wildcard for parents.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Designated safe swim area on the beach
- Shallow 3-foot pools suit young kids
- Onsite tour desk for family excursions
- All-day activities and entertainment
Heads up
- No dedicated kids club
- Older-wing rooms have reported cleanliness issues
- Snorkel and kayak gear not included
Peace & Quiet
MixedThe setting is relaxing but not sleepy: nightly entertainment, beach vendors, and busy pool areas keep the property lively. Light sleepers and anyone hoping for a hushed retreat should look elsewhere on the island.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Peaceful beachfront setting
- Sunset lounging by the water
Heads up
- Constant beach vendors pitching goods
- Nightly entertainment adds noise
- Busy family atmosphere throughout
On‑site spa, hair salon, fitness center, tour desk, gift shop, PADI dive center, babysitting (surcharge), shuttle service (surcharge), free parking

What past guests say
“The rooms are very old, the door lock barely works, the lighting is bad, in general everything looks old, the food is generally okay but lacks variety, the hotel staff are generally very attentive.”
★★★☆☆
“Henry Morgan (HM) is fantastic: its beach, facilities, food, and customer service (especially in the restaurant). I've been choosing HM Resort for several years now, and I always leave with a wealth of adventures and wonderful memories. I especially want to highlight the attention from Jorge and Freddy; they go above and beyond to provide the best service. I went with my wife, and we stayed in Block K, right by the pool and beach.”
★★★★★
“I absolutely do not recommend it. Right at reception, the staff are extremely unpleasant, the queues for check-in are enormous. The signage to the rooms is confusing, it's normal for people to get lost and wander around. There was no water in the taps in my room, I waited 3 hours to take a shower. If you want peace and quiet at the resort or on the beach, forget it. Music and noise blasting all day long. To eat, it's best to go as soon as the restaurant opens or there's nothing. Very...”

What you should know
What to Know
This is an older, mid-tier property partway through renovations, so the room you're assigned makes or breaks the stay: insist on the newer L wing in writing. Expect paid extras for water sports and spa, some English-language friction at the front desk, and persistent beach vendors just off property.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Onsite Roatan Activities desk books tours easily
- Airport transfer with luggage handling included
- Reef snorkeling right off the beach
Heads up
- Older wings are dated with mold and maintenance issues
- Snorkel, kayak, and massage all cost extra
- Spanish-speaking guests get faster service
- Beach vendors approach constantly
- Advertised phone lines and transfers not always reliable
