Family-friendly all‑inclusive resort on West Bay Beach with diving access

Food & drink

Strong

Food punches above its weight for a small Roatan resort, with a newly renovated Balam buffet featuring live cooking stations and themed international nights. San Simón is the standout à la carte, though the fixed 7pm dinner start frustrates divers.

Dining overview

Four restaurants including Balam buffet and three a‑la‑carte venues plus bars; buffet recently renovated, theme nights, made‑to‑order omelets, surf‑and‑turf highlighted

Beach

Standout

West Bay Beach is the headline: soft sand, crystal-clear water, and the world's second-largest barrier reef essentially at your feet for shore snorkeling. Virtually no seaweed, and security patrols keep it feeling safe.

White‑sand beach with soft sand perfect for floating, easy snorkeling off the beach, chairs and umbrellas provided but sometimes crowded by cruise day‑pass guests

Pools

Strong

Multiple warm, well-maintained pools with plenty of seating and a swim-up bar, and they rarely fill up. A relaxed pool scene rather than a party one.

Editorial pool rating

Two outdoor pools plus children’s pool, waterfalls and jacuzzi area; pools rarely crowded with many guests preferring the beach

Rooms & suites

About 60 individually decorated air‑conditioned rooms with kitchenettes, Egyptian cotton bedding, private balcony or patio, LED TV and safe

What’s included

Strong

For divers and beach lovers, the price-to-experience ratio is hard to beat in the Caribbean, with repeat guests returning yearly. The premium liquor package draws mixed reviews, and the dive operation has had some safety complaints worth weighing.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

A quiet, intimate boutique feel with beachfront villas and stellar sunset bar service makes this a low-key romantic pick, especially for dive-loving couples. Don't expect swanky adults-only luxury; the charm is the calm, not the glamour.

Families

Good fit

A genuinely family-friendly small resort with a safe, patrolled beach, easy snorkeling from shore, and staff who go out of their way for kids and grandparents alike. The scale is intimate rather than a mega kids-club operation.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

This is the calm end of West Bay: a small resort that rarely feels crowded, with mellow evening entertainment and pools that stay near-empty. Ideal if you want to read, dive, and unwind rather than party.

All‑inclusive amenities include diving, kayaking, spa treatments, beach volleyball, boat tours, children’s pool, coffee shop, manager’s reception, free airport and ferry shuttles

What past guests say

★★★★☆

“Bedroom tile floor is sticky and has sand all over it. Feels like it hasn’t been mopped in forever. Couldn’t feel clean getting into bed. Gross. The DJ music is too loud near the rooms and cant get any rest during the day after diving. Split A/C unit made too much intermittent noise and the remote to it barely worked. There was no daylight lighting in my room. The lights that were in the room has mixed warm lights and bright white lights. It’s so cheaply done and feels like a place you’d pay...”

“Beach bar here is so cute and great service chairs are really nice and you have a nice place to sit out with friends and family. Definitely recommend their piña coladas as their pre-mix so you know it’s gonna be good!”

Know before you book

  • Beach area can become crowded with cruise‑ship day‑pass guests
  • Some private events (weddings) may close areas late into the night
  • Sand flies reported by guests when not prepared
  • Steady stream of outside vendors and massage sellers

What you should know

What to Know

This is a small, boutique-scale dive-focused resort, not a mega all-inclusive, so plan accordingly. Dinner starts at 7pm, Wi-Fi is spotty, and pre-arrival reservation communication can be slow.

Bring insect‑repellent pants for sand flies; beware cruise‑ship day‑pass crowding on beach; passport must be valid 6 months beyond travel and $47 departure tax in cash
