Why travelers love it

“Adults‑only all‑inclusive resort with rooms on stilts over a lagoon”

Guests repeatedly praise the friendly, attentive staff and a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. Many return repeatedly and cite the spectacular beach and sense of value.

Food & drink

Strong

Food is genuinely good by Cuba standards, with a plentiful buffet and standout à la cartes, especially the Italian. Selection can feel repetitive over a long stay but no one leaves hungry.

Dining overview

All‑inclusive includes buffet plus several a la carte restaurants (Italian, international, Mediterranean, barbecue), with multiple bars including beach, poolside, piano and music bars.

Beach

Standout

The beach is the headline: long, wide, soft, and clean, with ample chairs, palapas and shade even at peak hours. Widely called one of the best in Cuba.

Editorial beach rating

Fine white sand and clear turquoise water with spacious layout and a dedicated beach bar; consistently described as relaxing and among the best in Cuba.

Pools

Strong

The main pool is clean, well-maintained, and staffed by attentive pool guys, with a saxophone player adding a mellow morning soundtrack. It can fill up on cooler days when guests trade the beach for the pool deck.

Editorial pool rating

Large freeform outdoor pool surrounded by loungers and cabanas, with some swim‑up bar service and organized daytime activities nearby.

What’s included

Strong

For a Cuba all-inclusive, the consistency, staff quality, and beach deliver strong value, which is why so many are repeat guests. Rooms and infrastructure feel dated, so don't expect Mexico- or DR-level polish for the price.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

A calm, romantic adults-only hideaway where anniversaries and quiet getaways thrive, with live classic music setting a soothing tone. Not the place for a party-fueled honeymoon, and one recent honeymoon had a rocky room-assignment start.

Families

Not a fit

Adults-only, so no one under 18 is permitted. Multigenerational trips with adult children work well, but this is not a resort for kids.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

This is the quiet lens's poster child: a small, laid-back adults-only resort skewing older, with mellow live music instead of nightclub energy. Come to actually rest.

Spa with sauna and steam bath, fitness center, game room with billiards and ping‑pong, tennis and beach volleyball courts, water‑sports, horseback and bike tours.

What past guests say

“Beautiful hotel, beach access, pool, bar open all day and two restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff is lovely and very attentive and helpful, there are always different activities and shows. The place is clean and the staff keeps it clean. Tip for the future - put small signs next to the food saying what is vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free, it's frustrating to ask the waiters every time or read about the dish, the waiter we asked was wrong and claimed the dish was vegetarian,...”

“Lovely quiet resort suitable for older visitors. Not a party place, more a laid-back vibe. Rooms are dated but very clean and functional. Food was very good. Almost as good as D.R. or Mexican resorts. Spectacular beach - quiet, very clean, and lots of shade. Service and staff excellent - could not do enough for you.”

“We booked for a month at Melia, Cayo Coco, arriving January 14th, leaving February 11th.
We have been pleased with our accommodations, although an ocean view would have been preferred but that option wasn't available when we booked in August, 2025. Our room in clean and well supplied/ stocked with towels, linens, toilet paper, water, etc
We have eaten at the International and Italian speciality restaurants several times and thoroughly enjoyed them. We have never had a problem finding...”

“Our first time at this resort. I’ll definitely come back. Staff is very friendly and helpful in all that they do. Food is very good, you won’t go hungry - NO shortages or power outages. Lots to choose from in terms of alcohol. Daily entertainment. Can’t say enough about the people, they make it all worth while.”

Know before you book

Not for:families
 • Buffet dishes sometimes only lukewarm
 • Menu gets repetitive across a week
 • Occasional supply gaps (limes, lettuce)
 • Gets crowded when wind pushes guests off the beach

What you should know

What to Know

This is Cuba, so bring patience, small gifts for staff, and realistic expectations about dated rooms and spotty infrastructure. Wi-Fi is lobby-only and cuts off at checkout, and the resort has weathered recent fuel-shortage disruptions.
