Why travelers love it

“All‑inclusive resort with spa and lush natural beach in Cayo Santa María”

Guests consistently enjoy the pristine white‑sand beach and the spa in a lush tropical setting, plus the family‑friendly activities.

Best for familiesBest for weddings and honeymoonsBest for wellness lovers

Food & drink

Mixed

Buffet is honest Cuban all-inclusive fare: fresh fruit, classic breakfasts, and improving kitchen creativity under two new chefs. Variety is the weak spot, and anyone expecting a true five-star gastronomic spread will find it below par.

Dining overview

Buffet plus several à la carte restaurants (Italian, Mediterranean, beach lunch snacks), multiple bars including lobby, beach and nightclub.

Beach

Standout

The 9-kilometer stretch of Playa Cayo Santa María is the headline reason to book: white sand, crystal-clear warm water, and no obstacles for miles. Repeat guests call it one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.

Editorial beach rating
Turquoise ocean with sandy beach, swimmers, and red kite sail visible.

Pools

Strong

Large, sparkling pools that are well-maintained and animated with poolside dancing and games during the day. A reliable secondary attraction to the beach.

358 rooms

What’s included

Strong

Exceptional value for a warm-weather beach week, especially booked last-minute against Mexico or a cruise. You're paying Cuba prices for a world-class beach, not a five-star gastronomic resort, and that trade works.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

A quiet, intimate resort with postcard beach mornings that works well for low-key couples and repeat honeymooners. Don't expect romance-driven infrastructure like adults-only pools or candlelit dining venues.

Families

Good fit

A genuinely family-friendly Cuban resort with a Kids Club, pool and beach activities, and an entertainment team that repeat guests name by name. Just calibrate expectations to Cuba, not Cancun.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

This is a calm, small-scale resort where mornings feel like a postcard and the animation team knows when to back off. Ideal if you want a relaxing getaway over a party scene.

World‑class spa, fitness centre, beauty salon, three pools including children’s pool, non‑motorized water sports, tennis, volley, mini‑club, nightly shows.

What past guests say

“It was my first time at this resort and overall had very little to no complaints. The rooms are nice and very clean. Food is good with lots or variety, and the beaches are beautiful and very clean. Plenty of entertainment is available as well as great excursion options and car rentals are available. I would highly recommend this resort. Excellent entertainment team with Lisdania, daily, anni, susu”

“The Playa Cayo Santa Maria is my favourite place!! I have been here 6 times now and this time for 2 weeks. The food is very good, and the people are exceptional! I have many favourites like Lisdania who gets everyone up and involved. You can’t find better staff anywhere and the beaches are phenomenal! Best beach and the water is so crystal clear! There are no shortages here and people do not need to be afraid to come!”

“I really love this hotel. I've visited it several times. The entertainment team is excellent. Every day there are recreational activities on the beach and in the pool that are super fun. Lisdania, Arley, Susu, Muñeca. The food at the buffet is great. Nelson makes the best coffee. Thanks to Rafael for the cocktails in the lobby bar. We would definitely come back.”

“Beautiful Resort. Beach is exceptional. Food was surprisingly varied, well prepared, plentiful, and very tasty. Staff set the bar with kindness and heartfelt warmth. A vacation which exceeded my expectations and left me relaxed and rejuvenated. Reports of Mosquitoes were greatly exaggerated, never noticed a single one and did not need or use any bug spray. Resort grounds were lovely, pools and grounds immaculate and really well maintained. The value here was exceptional. Traveled on Sunwing whic”

Rosie answers from this resort’s guest reviews and our research — with quotes.

Know before you book

  • Limited buffet variety
  • Occasional drink shortages (soda, juices)
  • Not up to a true 5-star gastronomic standard
  • Cooler winter weather can limit pool time

What you should know

What to Know

This is Cuba, so recalibrate: the hotel is older, the buffet variety is thinner than Mexican or Dominican peers, and occasional supply gaps (sodas, specific juices) come with the territory. Come for the beach and the staff, not for luxury polish.
