Food & drink
StrongSit-down restaurants like Gondola, Momo Teppan and Carvao deliver above-average all-inclusive fare, but consistency swings hard: the steakhouse, missed orders and a wedding food-poisoning incident drag the overall picture down.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Strong specialty spots: Gondola, Momo Teppan, Carvao
- Buffalo wings and poolside food at Nizuc
- Gluten-free and allergy handling taken seriously
- Drinks poured stronger than typical AI
Heads up
- Steakhouse widely called disappointing
- Wrong orders and long waits at multiple restaurants
- One reported food-poisoning wedding incident

Beach
MixedThe beach is pleasant when nature cooperates, but mid-year sargassum can render it unusable and the Sunrise end has drawn complaints about seaweed or sewage smell.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Beach yoga and water sports program
- Kayaking and Flow Rider on site
- Long stretch of sand across sections
Heads up
- Sargassum heavy in early summer
- Odor complaints near Sunrise/Sombrero end
- Not the reason to book this resort
Detailed beach reporting coming soon.
Pools
StrongPools are the amenity headline: multiple large pools, swim-up bars, and standout poolside servers keep the day flowing, though cleanliness and swim-out room configurations don't always match expectations.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Multiple pools across Sunrise, Nizuc and Grand
- Swim-up bars and quick poolside food
- Standout servers (Alberto and Magdial at Nizuc)
- Lounge chairs generally available
Heads up
- Cleanliness of pools flagged repeatedly
- Kids at swim-up bars bother some adults
- 'Swim-out' rooms not always truly swim-out
What’s included
MixedWhen it clicks, repeat guests happily return for a tenth stay; when it doesn't, the premium price feels indefensible next to cheaper neighbors down the road.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- 10 minutes from Cancun airport
- Huge amenity footprint: golf, pickleball, water park
- Loyal repeat visitors across decades
- Strong service from named staff members
Heads up
- Prices feel steep vs. nearby resorts for some
- Dated rooms and maintenance issues reported
- Billing and credit-card disputes cited
Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.
Amenities & activities
Couples
StretchNot the pick for a romantic escape: kids at the swim-up bar, spring-break energy and wedding-group chaos dominate the vibe, and several couples felt the property has slipped from its honeymoon-era reputation.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Grand section rooms feel more upscale
- Spa and yoga classes are a bright spot
- Bar-lounge scene (the Library) is date-night worthy
Heads up
- Kids everywhere, including at swim-up bars
- Spring-break and convention crowds
- Wedding-group logistics can overwhelm the resort
- Sunrise section prone to seaweed and odor complaints
Families
IdealThis is the heart of the resort's identity: a water park, kids' pools, dedicated entertainment staff and a scale that lets kids roam safely make it a genuine family playground.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Water park with kid-friendly slides
- Named kids-club and entertainment staff repeatedly praised
- Safe, self-contained property for older kids and teens
- Accommodates large multigenerational groups
Heads up
- High chairs and kid requests sometimes ignored
- Property is massive; strollers need golf-cart transport
- Rooms and pools sometimes flagged as not clean
Peace & Quiet
MixedPeaceful pockets exist (yoga, the spa, the Library bar) but the overall property is busy, group-heavy and often loud, with 7am landscaping and lively pool scenes.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Beach and sunrise yoga classes
- Spa areas and golf course feel secluded
- Grand section quieter than Sunrise
Heads up
- Weddings, conventions and spring-break groups
- Early-morning lawn mowing noted
- Pool and lobby zones get rowdy

“We love it here. Come every October with the family!”

“My wife and I had an amazing time. We had a great time on our actual honeymoon 2.5 years ago, but it was go-go-go in Europe. We booked this as a relaxing do-nothing trip to enjoy time together. Moon Palace is awesome. I haven't done another all-inclusive but I will be measuring them against this. Every employee was so kind, every space was clean and comfortable, we were so well taken care of, and the drinks and food were awesome. There's so many ways to do your vacation, from staying in your...”
