Why travelers love it

“Quiet adults-only all-inclusive retreat with romantic ambiance and beachfront location”

Guests frequently praise the attentive and warm staff, spacious and spotless rooms with whirlpool tubs, and the intimate romantic atmosphere. The quiet white-sand beach and peaceful pools also get repeated mentions.

Food & drink

Strong

Refined dining across four à la carte restaurants outpaces the typical buffet-heavy all-inclusive, with Aurora and the Italian venue drawing repeat praise. Reservations are recommended but not mandatory, and quality holds up night after night.

Dining overview

Four specialty restaurants including Italian Trattoria and Mexican/International buffet in Aurora; no reservations required and creative à la carte dinners complement buffet options.

Beach

Standout

A rare stretch of manicured Cancun hotel-zone beach with clear blue water, cabanas, hammocks, and full food and drink service. Repeat visitors call the ocean views the best they have seen anywhere.

Editorial beach rating

Direct access to a calm, white-sand beachfront with well-maintained loungers and clear turquoise water; quieter stretch of the Hotel Zone with minimal noise.

Pools

Strong

Two pools split the mood cleanly: an activity pool with a charismatic entertainment crew and a separate quiet pool for lounging. Pool concierges and dedicated waiters make the day effortless.

Editorial pool rating

Three (or four per some sources) infinity-style pools including one with a swim-up bar, offering both activity and quiet options.

Rooms & suites

252 rooms

All accommodations include a double whirlpool tub, minibar, liquor dispenser, private balcony, and modern amenities ranging from entry-level Deluxe to Honeymoon and Governor suites; intimate scale with around 252 rooms.

Room details here are AI-assisted, compiled from the resort's own website and public sources. Categories and names change often — confirm the exact room when you book.

What’s included

Strong

For couples who value intimate service and location over sprawl, the price-to-experience ratio is strong, especially versus larger Palace flagships. A minority of long-tenured members feel recent stays no longer justify the premium.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Ideal

This is a purpose-built couples retreat: adults-only, oceanfront on every angle, whirlpool tubs on private balconies, and romantic touches like wine tastings and beachside dinners. Repeat honeymooners and anniversary travelers dominate the guest mix.

Families

Not a fit

Adults-only property, no one under 18 permitted. Palace guests traveling with kids get sent to sister resorts like Moon Palace or Moon Grand.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

One of the calmest properties in Cancun's hotel zone: small footprint, low noise, and a dedicated quiet pool alongside the activity pool. Entertainment is present but never invasive.

On‑site spa (extra cost), fitness center, nightly entertainment, and outdoor activities like beach volleyball and bocce; full 24‑hour room service and free Wi‑Fi throughout.

“Loved coming here, Service was amazing, numerous activities and restaurants to try out inside the resort. The guys and girls at sweet and coffee (Eric, Daniela, Yzui and Adrian) were kind and made your day start off smoothly. The food was amazing at all the restaurants, especially at aurora and fuego. The waitress Yanet that tended to us at aurora was an absolute sweetheart and Alfredo at Fuego was very attentive to all our needs. Overall, its a great resort to stay at for any occasion.”

“An incredible adults-only vacation spot. We’ve been there 3 years in a row now for our wedding anniversary. They pamper us like crazy. We’ll keep going back and absolutely recommend Sun Palace!”

Know before you book

Not for:families
  • Buffet quality inconsistent at breakfast/lunch
  • Upselling and high extra costs reported
  • Spa pricing perceived as expensive
  • Walk-ins wait over an hour without reservations

What you should know

What to Know

The trade-off for staying here is the timeshare sales pressure: expect an offsite "informational meeting" pitch and follow-up calls to your room. Book à la carte reservations in three-night rolling windows, and arrange your own airport transfer back if you need flexibility.

Good to know

  • Expect occasional high-pressure upsell presentations (e.g. resort club)
  • Spa treatments are expensive without resort credit
