What’s included
StrongThe most affordable Riu in the region, and it looks the part: dated finishes and budget-motel touches, but the food, staff, and grounds deliver more than the price suggests for guests with realistic expectations.

- Strong buffet for the price
- 24 hour drinks including in-room dispenser
- Free shuttle to beach and 5th Avenue

What past guests say
“I've stayed at other RIU hotels before and have had the opportunity to compare the dining experience at the RIU Lupita with that of the RIU Tequila and the RIU Playacar, whose buffets are far superior. The limited variety and poor food replenishment at the Lupita contrast sharply with what these other hotels in the same category—five-star, RIU Classic line—offer. Frankly, the Lupita's culinary offerings are closer to what I would expect from a four-star hotel than a five-star one. RIU should...”

“This is the 3rd time I have stayed here and I always have a pleasant stay and quality service.”
★★★★★
“A small but cozy hotel surrounded by greenery, with many exotic animals roaming freely. This makes the hotel interesting and offers an authentic glimpse into Mexican culture and lifestyle. It's not far from the center of Playa del Carmen, and you can take the shuttle bus there (where others take a taxi 😉). While there's no beach directly in front of the hotel, the shuttle service is well-organized, and the hotel's own beach is very nice. The price-performance ratio is excellent.”
