Why travelers love it

“Adults‑only all‑suite resort with rooftop pool, bowling alley and direct beach on Barbados’s south coast”

Guests praise the all‑suite concept and novelty amenities like the Caribbean’s first rooftop infinity pool and bowling alley. The Stay at One, Play at Two access to Sandals Barbados doubles dining and entertainment options.

Food & drink

Standout

Restaurants punch well above typical all-inclusive standards, with Butch's Chophouse the runaway favorite for steaks, lamb chops and polished service. Expect world-class variety across venues like Greenhouse, Portofino and Schooners, though a few servers can be hit or miss.

Dining overview

Guests have access to 21 restaurants and 14 bars across both Sandals resorts in Barbados, featuring options from gourmet donuts to Pan-Caribbean cuisine and including rooftop and swim-up venues.

Beach

Mixed

The beach is the resort's weak point: south coast location means rough Atlantic-influenced water, frequent do-not-swim flags, and seasonal seaweed that can be significant. Management shuttles guests to calmer west coast beaches like the Boatyard when conditions turn.

Editorial beach rating

Soft white‑pink sand shared with adjacent resort, calm‑to‑moderate waters, public beach with some vendor interaction and limited beach chair availability

Pools

Strong

A strong pool game with multiple options from party pools to quieter loungers, plus a rooftop pool and swim-up bar with standout bartenders like Zebe. Chair-hogging with early towels is the main friction point.

Editorial pool rating

11 pools and 6 whirlpools including the rooftop infinity pool with bar, beachfront swim‑up bar and multiple plunge pools attached to suite categories

Rooms & suites

338 rooms

All accommodations are suites (about 338) including Caribbean Junior at entry up to Skypool Penthouse Two‑Story Butler Suites; all‑suite layout provides living area separate from bed

What’s included

Strong

For couples who lean into butler suites, specialty dining and the sister-resort access, the price delivers a genuine luxury feel. Guests paying top dollar for club level or a promised ocean view are the ones most likely to feel shortchanged.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Ideal

This is honeymoon and anniversary central: adults-only, butler-forward, and stacked with romantic touches from private Rondoval pools to piano bars. Couples celebrating milestones consistently walk away calling it a dream.

Families

Not a fit

Sandals is couples-only, so no children under 16 and no family infrastructure. Adult siblings and multi-generational adult groups do travel here happily, but this is not a kids resort.

Peace & Quiet

Strong

The grounds feel calm and private, with peaceful room buildings for readers and sleepers, yet lively events, cocktail parties and a piano bar are always available when you want them. You choose your own volume.

Includes bowling alley (Lovers Lanes, four‑lane), rooftop infinity pool and bar, swim‑up bar, watersports (snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, glass‑bottom boat), scuba for certified divers, tennis, fitness center, entertainment, Red Lane Spa

“We had a wonderful stay at Sandals Royal Barbados celebrating my wife’s 35th birthday! The resort is beautiful, relaxing, and perfect for a romantic getaway. Butch’s was hands down the best restaurant on the property and a must-visit during your stay. The only areas for improvement would be more attentive bartender service, higher-quality liquor options, and less simple syrup in the cocktails, as some drinks were overly sweet. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, created beautiful...”

What to Know

Book with a Sandals-specialist travel agent to lock in butler requests and the room category you actually want, and go in knowing this is the south coast, not the calm Caribbean west side. The sister resort next door effectively doubles your restaurants and bars.
