Why travelers love it
“Luxury adults‑only all‑inclusive resort with a large beach and lively atmosphere”
Guests consistently praise the recently renovated grounds, swim‑up bars, and attentive staff in pools and restaurants
Food & drink
StrongFood is solid but not the headliner: multiple specialty restaurants keep variety high, with the Mexican, French (Bordeaux), and Hibachi drawing the loudest praise. Expect competent all-inclusive quality rather than fine dining, and a minority of stays report genuinely disappointing meals.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Mexican and Hibachi are standouts
- Bordeaux French restaurant well-reviewed
- Buffet reliable for breakfast and lunch
- Plenty of à la carte options
Heads up
- Some specialty restaurants gated behind Preferred Club
- A vocal minority calls food mediocre
- Not quite five-star quality
Dining overview
Several à la carte and buffet restaurants with expanded options through dine‑around access at sibling Dreams Royal Beach; guests report mixed consistency and occasional wait times
Beach
StrongThe beach is attractive with soft sand and generally minimal sargassum, though it sits on the Uvero Alto side rather than the calmer Bavaro Caribbean stretch. Wandering vendors and average surf keep it just short of iconic.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Soft white sand
- Sargassum rarely an issue
- Beachside service from Preferred servers
- Wedding-worthy setting
Heads up
- Uvero Alto coast, not classic Bavaro
- Persistent solicitors and vendors
- Only six non-Preferred beach cabanas
Wide, sugar‑white Bavaro Beach; calm clear water; regularly cleared but sometimes affected by sargassum; beach vendors appear throughout the day
Pools
StandoutMultiple pools cover every mood: lively main pool with music, a lazy river, quieter Preferred zones, and private-pool suites. The catch is that the best areas are Preferred-gated.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Lazy river is a favorite
- Swim-up bars with attentive bartenders
- Variety from lively to calm
- Private-pool suites available
Heads up
- Preferred status unlocks best areas
- All pools close at 6pm
- Main pool can feel crowded
Multiple pools including a swim‑up bar, lazy‑river style Preferred Club pool and quiet pool options; lively atmosphere sometimes overcrowded at peak
Rooms & suites
639 roomsRenovated spacious suites with balconies or terraces, minibar refreshed daily, seating areas, whirlpool tubs; Preferred Club adds private pool, lounge and club breakfast

What’s included
StrongYou get a beautiful, well-maintained resort with strong service, but the base experience is noticeably thinner than Preferred Club, and the property leans hard on upsells. Book Preferred or manage expectations.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Preferred Club widely called worth the upgrade
- Premium liquor included
- Grounds immaculate and well-maintained
- Standout staff service
Heads up
- Constant upselling on-property
- Rooms and fitness center feel dated
- Butler service inconsistent
- Non-Preferred guests locked out of key venues
Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.
Amenities & activities
Couples
IdealA honeymoon and anniversary magnet, with private-pool suites, romantic beach setting, and couples returning for weddings and vow renewals. The adults-only setup and Preferred Club perks tilt everything toward romance.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Private-pool Preferred Club suites
- Popular wedding and honeymoon venue
- Adults-only, no kids anywhere
- Butlers and swim-up bars elevate the experience
Heads up
- Occasional influx of younger party crowds
- Some rooms feel dated
Families
Not a fitAdults-only property: no one under 18 permitted. Extended-family adult trips work, but this is not a resort for children.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Works for adult multi-generation trips
- Wedding parties well accommodated
Heads up
- No guests under 18
- No kids club, kid menus, or kid pools
- Not designed for young travelers
Peace & Quiet
MixedThe vibe leans lively rather than serene: nightly entertainment, engaged animation team, and upbeat pool music are core to the experience. You can still find calm corners, especially in Preferred Club areas, but expect energy after dark.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Preferred Club pools offer calmer zones
- Grounds are spacious enough to escape crowds
- Beach areas feel relaxed by day
Heads up
- Nightly shows and music are a focal point
- Occasional younger, rowdier crowds
- Main pool is upbeat, not tranquil
All‑inclusive amenities include multiple pools, swim‑up bar, non‑motorized water sports, fitness center, clay tennis courts, spa access at adjacent resort, entertainment program

What past guests say
“We have been to several Secrets and always loved them. Now that Hyatt has bought them, this was my last one. I don't like that on check in they immediately bug you to upgrade to preferred club. For us, it's not worth it. And if I wanted it I would've booked it. Next they send you over to someone that tries to make an appt for the next day so you can listen to their time share pitch. I'm on vacation, I am not here to listen to a sales pitch! That alone makes me done with Secrets (and any...”

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Secrets Royal Beach, Punta Cana. Here are few key things you should know. The staff was mostly very friendly and helpful. The only issue I had was the upselling of the spa. They were very pushy about selling the spa, which is not something I need on vacation. The quality of food was great. I was really impressed by the Mexican and Japanese restaurant. The buffet was fantastic. It had a huge variety of food to cater to many tastes and diets. I enjoyed the pool...”

“One of the best vacations ever. Hotel is huge and has it all. The staff were beyond 5 star. Service is unmatched. Huge shout out to Melven the pool bartender. Talented, charismatic and really cared if you were having a good time. I had a fall first day and he stopped by our room to check on me. Can't say enough about the staff. Aenoli, I know I spelt that wrong. He felt like an old friend after the first day. Bluewater grill was our favorite restaurant on site. 5 star. Awesome food and super...”
