Why travelers love it

“Upscale all‑inclusive on a secluded peninsula with dual beaches and family‑friendly amenities”

Guests praise the lush tropical grounds, two distinct beaches (calm Mamora Bay and ocean‑side Coco Beach), varied pools and water sports, and attentive staff across ages.

Food & drink

Strong

Multiple restaurants deliver genuinely strong meals, with Piccolo Mondo and Cocos standing out and the Friday Beach Party a highlight. Just note the buffet is limited to breakfast and one beach night, so à la carte bookings are essential.

Dining overview

Six restaurants range from casual beachfront grills and buffet to elevated Italian fine‑dining; most are included in all‑inclusive, but Piccolo Mondo requires reservation and may be extra.

Beach

Mixed

Two beaches, two very different stories: Mamora Bay stays calm and swimmable, while the Atlantic-facing side gets hit hard by sargassum in spring and summer, sometimes making it unusable and smelly. Book with the season in mind.

Two white‑sand beaches: Mamora Bay side offers calm protected water ideal for families and non‑motorized activities; Coco Beach side is quieter, better suited for snorkeling and relaxed solitude.

Pools

Standout

A standout for pool variety, with adult-only options on the bay side, a lively Piccolo pool, and private villa pools with their own bar. Consistently clean and well-attended.

Editorial pool rating

Six outdoor pools, including separate family‑friendly and adult‑only areas, tiered waterfall pool and poolside bars.

Rooms & suites

247 rooms

Warm Caribbean‑style rooms with private furnished balconies, mini‑fridge and coffeemaker; villas offer 2–3 bedrooms with kitchens and living areas ideal for families or groups.

Room details here are AI-assisted, compiled from the resort's own website and public sources. Categories and names change often — confirm the exact room when you book.

What’s included

Mixed

When it works, the food, service, and setting justify the price; when seaweed or tired rooms hit, the 5-star billing feels overstated. Expect an upscale-but-imperfect experience rather than polished luxury.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Stretch

A mixed picture for romance: honeymooners split between magical stays and real disappointment, largely driven by seaweed on the ocean side and patchy maintenance. Best for couples who prioritize dining and adult pools over beach postcards.

Families

Good fit

One of the few Antigua all-inclusives that genuinely welcomes kids, with a well-liked Kids Club, calm bay swimming, and plenty of space to roam. A dependable multigenerational pick.

Peace & Quiet

Strong

The secluded peninsula setting delivers genuine peace, especially on the bay side, though ongoing renovation works and a lively pool games room can disrupt certain buildings.

Spa, fitness center, tennis courts, numerous non‑motorized water‑sports, fitness and kids and teens clubs, golf nearby, shuttle carts across property.

“Overall my family and I had a great trip. We stayed here back in Dec 24 / Jan 25. The hotel had some issues. Power outages causing issues and things like kitchens not being operatable was problematic with the little ones. Some rude workers, but given the circumstances I understand.. Overall, I think the manager at the time was doing his best to accomodate everyone and thing. Its a beautiful island and overall, wonderful people. Despite a few bumps, we had a wonderful vacation here.”

“This place had an amazing landscape!!! We were so happy with all of the area we could walk around at the resort. We felt incredibly safe. The staff will take you around in golf carts and they were pretty prompt when you ordered one from your room. Some of the staff members were friendly and other others looked pretty miserable. The front Desk staff was OK. The tour desk staff and all of the wait staff were absolutely amazing and we loved them!!!! The private boat rentals and staff were...”

“The location of St. James’s Club & Villas in Antigua is beautiful, and the property has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing. The service was one of the biggest issues. The phones in our rooms didn’t work, which made it difficult to contact the front desk when needed. The TVs were extremely outdated, and both the rooms and property in general looked like they haven’t been properly maintained or cared for in quite some time. One of the rooms we had...”

What you should know

What to Know

Book restaurants immediately on arrival, pick your room location carefully, and go in eyes-open about seaweed season on the Atlantic side. It is a 45-minute transfer from the airport with no walkable town nearby.

Expect long walks—use shuttles; Wi‑Fi free in public areas but extra in rooms; reserve fine‑dining (Piccolo Mondo, Rainbow Garden); construction in villas/restaurant possible late 2025–early 2026.
