Why travelers love it

“Small jungle‑front all‑inclusive resort with daily guided island expeditions and sister‑resort amenities”

Guests consistently praise the personalized service and daily included excursions like snorkeling, biking, and dune‑buggy tours. The secluded jungle setting with access to dining and beach facilities at the neighboring resort appeals to both adventure‑seekers and relaxation lovers.

Food & drink

Strong

Food punches above expectations for a small jungle resort, with Rosato and poolside fish tacos and ceviche as standouts and included à la carte dinners drawing repeat praise. A few honeymooners and longer-stay guests found the reservation-only restaurants merely average.

Dining overview

One on‑site all‑inclusive restaurant serving three meals daily, plus self‑serve bar and morning coffee, juice and fresh bread delivered to rooms. Additional dining options available at sister resort.

Beach

Strong

There is no true on-property beach; you cross a road to the Fiesta Americana beach club, where a dock lounger and ample chairs await. Snorkeling right off the shore is the standout, with turtles, rays, and reef fish just steps in.

Detailed beach reporting coming soon.

Pools

Strong

The Explorean's own pool is small, tropical, and blissfully quiet, made for reading and drinks rather than swim-up bar theatrics. For more action, the Fiesta Americana pools are a short walk away.

Rooms & suites

56 rooms

56 casita‑style rooms with minimalist design, no TVs or room service, private balconies overlooking jungle, intentionally simple to encourage unplugging.

Room details here are AI-assisted, compiled from the resort's own website and public sources. Categories and names change often — confirm the exact room when you book.

What’s included

Strong

Included daily guided excursions (snorkeling, boat trips, buggy rides, tequila tasting) make this an unusually strong value for the price, with no upcharges on activities. A minority felt the food and honeymoon experience did not justify the rate.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

A quiet jungle setting with cabanas by the sea makes this a low-key romantic pick, and several honeymooners left glowing. Expectations matter though: guests hoping for intentional honeymoon touches or luxury polish have walked away disappointed.

Families

Good fit

Small but surprisingly family-friendly, with guided snorkeling and boat tours that patient guides tailor to nervous kids and single parents. The included daily excursions mean children stay engaged without upcharges.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

This is the headline reason to book: a hidden jungle retreat tucked behind Fiesta Americana where trees muffle the road and the pool stays serene. If you want peace without giving up a livelier sister resort next door, this delivers.

Includes an on‑site restaurant, a small outdoor pool and hot tub, free Wi‑Fi, and free parking. Guests also have full access to sister resort’s spa, beach club, multiple restaurants, fitness center, kids’ club and larger pools.

“It was okay, nothing extraordinary. Unfortunately, because of the time of year, we had cloudy days, but the pool and jacuzzi water was freezing. I understand there's no sun, but shouldn't they keep it at a decent temperature? I mean, they don't charge us less just because it's raining. Part of the experience is that there's no TV in the room. They "invited" us to the famous "conversation," and in the end, the reward for wasting half the morning was a so-called chair massage... The service is...”

Know before you book

  • Small pool on‑site
  • Some guests report maintenance or room issues such as water temperature or limited dining variety
  • Not beachfront—needs to walk to sister resort for beach access
  • Beach requires crossing a road

What you should know

What to Know

The property is tucked behind Fiesta Americana down a set of stairs and across a small bridge, so arrival can feel confusing at first. Expect a low-key timeshare pitch and note that room lighting and outlets are quirky.

Some rooms have no warm water—report promptly if needed. Bring rash guard or reef‑safe sun protection for snorkeling. No TVs or room service—plan accordingly.
